Compact and Economical Microsurgical Training Made Possible with Virtual Reality

What is it about?

To be competent in microsurgery, frequent and long hours of training is an absolute requirement. However, due to the high cost of surgical microscopes and training facilities, most trainees are not able to practice at regular basis. Therefore, we attempted to find alternative and economical ways that would simulate microsurgical training. We combined a virtual reality headset with a digital microscope to achieve this goal. We also presented a cost analysis comparing 2 different setups.
