What is it about?
This paper presents and studies various selected literature primarily from conference proceedings, journals and clinical test of the robotic, mechatronics, neurology and biomedical engineering on rehabilitation robotic systems. Present paper has been written to cover three main categories; types of rehabilitation robots, key technologies with current issues, and future challenges. Literatures on fundamental research with some example in commercial robots, and new robots development projects related to rehabilitation are introduced. Most of the commercialize robots presented in this paper are well known especially amongst robotics engineer and scholar in robotic field, but less known to academic of humanities. Rehabilitation robot research area is expanding, in light of that, some of the current issues and future challenges in rehabilitation robots engineering are recalled, examined and clarified with future directions. This paper is concluded with some recommendation with regards to rehabilitation robots

Why is it important?
In particular, the main objective of this paper is to give an overview about the trends of rehabilitation as a therapy and assistive robotics for human usages with current issues (various example is amply provided) and some future research direction challenges. The main contributions of this paper are (i) the current issues and key technologies that most reflected and affected in rehabilitation robots, and (ii) the directions and future challenges for people that involved in rehabilitation robot with recommendations and related suggestions
