Why is it important?

Infectious and inflammatory systemic granulomatous disorders frequently affect the ocular tissues, particularly in the form of uveitis involving any intraocular structure. In many cases, the ocular manifestations are the most important findings of these diseases. Moreover, in up to 30% of cases, the ocular manifestations are the presenting sign of the disease.

Perspectives

When reviewing and selecting by importance and frequency, the systemic diseases that should be discussed in this review, I noticed the relevance that the ophthalmic manifestations have in the clinical course and prognosis of many of these disorders.
