What is it about?

This review explored how Indonesian nurses are engaging with digital health technologies, including mobile apps and hospital information systems. It examined nurses’ readiness for digital health, their involvement in supporting specific healthcare needs, and the development and use of health information systems. The review also highlighted areas where training is needed to strengthen digital competencies.

Why is it important?

Our study maps the current state of digital health in Indonesian nursing, which is timely given the rapid digital transformation of healthcare. Two significant findings are that: a) nurses are actively engaging in digital health initiatives, such as mobile applications and hospital information systems, and b) there are varying levels of readiness and training needs among nurses. This work is unique because it provides a comprehensive overview of both achievements and gaps, guiding future education, policy, and practice to strengthen digital health integration in nursing.

Perspectives

Writing this article gave me the chance to see how much Indonesian nurses are already engaging with digital health, and how much potential there is to support them further. I hope this work highlights the importance of digital literacy in nursing and sparks more efforts to train and empower nurses to use technology effectively for patient care.
