What is it about?
Termination codons (UAA, UAG and UGA in most bacterial species) are signals decoded by two release factors (RF1 for UAA and UAG, and RF2 for UAA and UGA). Mutation bias can alter stop codon usage which in turn would affect relative expression of the two release factors. Similarly, changes in release factors would change stop codon usage. While this sounds like a conventional extension of the codon-anticodon adaptation theory, it leads to quite a number of interesting questions.
