What is it about?
Large collections of recorded wildlife sound allow for new ways of studying species and ecosystems. It is hoped that this collection, and the cloud infrastructure analysis platform we have built around it, will allow for advances in automated identification of species, and monitoring of environments.

Why is it important?
In order to develop automated acoustic identification tools, large sound collections are required. BioAcoustica provides an open platform for anybody to upload their acoustic wildlife collections. In addition we provide a scalable cloud computing infrastructure for analyzing sounds. This click-and-compute function allows anybody to run computational expensive analyses across our dataset.
