What is it about?
This critical review and meta-analysis have investigated the effects of current psychological interventions (presented in high quality peer-reviewed papers) on social adjustment of young refugees as a population with common experiences of complex trauma.

Why is it important?
The results of this study showed that current psychological interventions which are effective on improving psychiatric symptoms, are not necessarily effective on trauma-related difficulties with social adjustment. None of the current evidence-based interventions (recognised in this review) had designed their protocol based on understanding the complex links between trauma and social adjustment. This can explain why these interventions have not been successful in improving social aspects of mental health in a population of young people with complex traumatic experiences.
