What is it about?
Metallo-beta-lactamases (MBL) are zinc-depending enzymes. We demonstrated that zinc chelators (TPEN and nitroxoline) can restore meropenem activity against MBL-producing bacteria (in vitro), increasing the survival of infected animals (Galleria mellonella)

Why is it important?
Zinc chelators may be helpful adjuvants against MBL infections, and they need to be studied in humans
