What is it about?
Rotation of samples stops them sedimenting (or 'creaming'). Simple holders for samples used in small-angle scattering measurements are described that allow measurements on large particles dispersed in liquids for prolonged periods.

Why is it important?
A simple, cheap and reliable design is important. The design described uses components that are readily available and special parts are easily fabricated. Rotating samples can also be useful to provide an average over partially aligned materials if that is required.
