What is it about?

"Having support from people who've experienced it themselves really helps TB patients stick to their treatment schedules. Our study found that when patients had peer group support, they were much better at taking their medications on time. This suggests that getting help from others who understand what you're going through can make a big difference in TB treatment."

Why is it important?

"Our research focuses on a critical issue - the global problem of tuberculosis, which still claims many lives. What makes our study unique and timely is our exploration of how peer group support can significantly improve treatment adherence among tuberculosis patients. This is especially important as treatment disobedience contributes to higher mortality rates. Our findings emphasize the potential of peer support as an effective intervention, providing a fresh perspective on tackling this ongoing healthcare challenge. We hope this work will inspire more healthcare providers and policymakers to consider the power of peer support in improving patient outcomes, ultimately saving more lives."
