What is it about?

Librarians sometimes struggle to demonstrate the value that they can bring in their support for research within their institution. We have outlined how they can draft a programme of work tailored specifically to meet the needs of designated research teams.

Why is it important?

There is a tendency to focus on building and supporting digital "skills" among researchers. However, researchers do not work in isolation; research is typically undertaken as a team activity. Understanding the relative maturity of the digital "capability" of a research team will help to determine how well the team responds to changes in the environment.

Perspectives

I hope that rethinking how librarians can support research teams in their institution will change the way in which they have a conversation with team leaders.
