What is it about?

Airway suctioning is a high-risk treatment technique that requires competent healthcare professionals to perform it. This study aims to describe how patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals in chronic and community care settings define competence for airway suctionig. This study also assessed the content validity of the Physical Therapy Competence Assessment for Airway Suctioning (PT-CAAS) from the perspective of stakeholders.

Why is it important?

Our findings further provided evidence to support PT-CAAS's content validity for physical therapists that performs the airway suctioning technique. The study's findings also indicated that in addition to being used with physical therapists, PT-CAAS may also hold value for other clinicians who perform airway suctioning in practice.
