What is it about?
This essay comprises two parts: 1) a first section about Walter Kasper and his interpretation of Schelling’s Philosophy and 2) a shorter second one dedicated to some of the most relevant theological developments of Kasper’s theology, that he reached in pursuing Schelling’s questions.

Why is it important?
1) Comment to the Author: "This is an exciting piece of scholarship which contextualises Kasper's reading of Schelling in a way that nothing in the English-language has previously done. Its argument is strong and its structure is clear. It provides an important complement to many of the other articles in the special issue..." 2) Comment to the Author: This is a great article which comments on Schelling's reception by way of a careful account of his influence on Kasper's theological development. Alongside Schelling, the author takes into account the Catholic Tübingen School. Ultimately, the article accomplishes three goals: it gives a sense of important stimuli of Kasper's theological development including his relationship with other theologians such as Karl Barth; it demonstrates how closely they are linked to his study of Schelling in his time at Tübingen; it inscribes this reception into Kasper's continuation of the theological trajectory flowing from Drey, Möhler, and some others".
