What is it about?

Understanding the kidney status of patient is paramount as it helps adjusting dosages of medications to avoid toxicities. On the other other hand, it helps to devise interventions and strategies that prevents worsening of kidney status

Why is it important?

The study has shown has over half of patients with kidney impairment are not documented making hem to be at high risk of being on improperly adjusted medication dosages

Perspectives

In Botswana setting, renal function tests are done routinely. This provides a platform for health care personnel to be able to estimate kidney status and avoid potential toxicities. I believe the publication will help to raise awareness and improve quality of care among diabetes mellitus patients. It was a great pleasure to work with all co-authors and looking forward to contribute more in improving quality of care among patients with diabetes mellitus and chronic kidney disease
