What is it about?
Warming climate will reduce ice cover on lakes but has other effects, for example, greater evaporation, which will reduce water levels in lakes that are strongly influenced by groundwater inputs.

Why is it important?
Numerical models provide critical tools to be able to make predictions about the effects of changing climate on lake. Model predictions clearly demonstrate the multiple and potentially synergistic effects of climate change on lakes.
