What is it about?

Experiencing a traumatic event is most frequently associated with the development of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), but data from adolescents living in low-and middle-income countries (LMIC) are underrepresented in PTSD research. This study reports on the presence of and predictors of PTSD symptoms among adolescents experiencing traumatic events from Brazil, Bulgaria, Croatia, Indonesia, Montenegro, Nigeria, Palestinian Territories, Portugal, the Philippines, Romania, and Serbia.

Why is it important?

The data for this study were simultaneously collected across the countries and the UCLA PTSD Reaction Index for DSM-5 (PTSD-RI) was used for the assessment of traumatic events and PTSD symptoms. Data for the present study were available from 3370 adolescents (mean age 15.41 (1.65) years; 1465 (43.5%) males).
