What is it about?
We were measuring pesticide residues in honey with 4 analytical methods. Pesticide residues originate from veterinary use on bees and from environment. Bees fly 4.8 km from apary and on their way they collect remains of plant protection products (pesticides). These are pesticides from environment. We found residues of thiacloprid (pesticide from environment) in one organic honey. We also found veterinary drug residues in high percentage of samples.

Why is it important?
We presented 4 analytical methods, which are different than most often used QuEChERs method. We proved that it is not enough to follow veterinary drug residues in honey, but also pesticide residues from environment to prove that honey is organic.
Perspectives
It gave us great pleasure to conduct all that work and publish it. We introduced new methods in our laboratory and offered the consumers way to check safety of honey.
