What is it about?
The pesticide DDT is used to control malaria in many countries by killing mosquitoes. The chemical can then contaminate livestock such as free-range chickens.

Why is it important?
High levels of the pesticide in chickens pose a health risk to people who eat the chickens. Eggs contain higher concentrations of pesticide and are therefore a greater health risk.
