What is it about?

After a systematic mapping study on research concerning EA mining proposals developed specifically for TOGAF and Archimate, we concluded that this research field is not sufficiently mature.

Why is it important?

Enterprise architecture (EA) is a very useful to face the alignment of business and IT in a holistic manner. Creating EA models is a key effort when EA initiatives are carry out. To minimize this issue we propose methods and technology in order to support automatic EA modelling, including reverse engineering and mining, to get EA artifacts from software and system artifacts.

Perspectives

Digital transformation, business vs IT alignment, agile and lean are challenges that need answers from IT responsibles. All these implies a high complexity and I think enterprise architecture practices can be useful to face it if it is combined with software to automatize efforts.
