What is it about?

What if parent involvement were perceived by educators as asset-based rather than from a deficit perspective? In other words, why not consider multiple jobs, foreign languages, multiple caretakers, etc. as assets that teachers and principals need to incorporate into their interactions with parents?

The parent-school divide debates in the literature have not been that productive in bringing these two social institutions together on behalf of children.
