What is it about?
Jaguars used to be found through the Atlantic forest of eastern Brazil, northeastern Argentina and eastern Paraguay but in all three countries but due to deforestation and persecution only small populations remain within the largest remaining forest fragments. In eastern Paraguay only about 20 jaguars remain in two forest reserves, Mbaracayu and Morombi. We captured and put GPS satellite collars on 4 jaguars within these reserves. We found that almost all movements were confined to the protected areas, with almost no movements into the surrounding agricultural land.
