What is it about?
It's about a controversial mixed use redevelopment project in Dalston, London, that was strongly supported by local authorities but fiercely opposed by sections of the local community. This opposition wasn't just about NIMBYism. It was about differences between the way that local people viewed and valued Dalston, and the way that local authorities did. It was also about locals trying to slow the pace of gentrification. The article shows how a poor planning process can lead to the escalation of tensions between local people and local authorities.
