What is it about?
This research demonstrates the potential to mine the internet for UK neighbourhood names appearing associated with postcodes which can then be mapped. This is undertaken in a probabilistic manner to show levels of agreement (eg 100% agree that this area is called * but in this different space - 50% call it neighbourhood X but 50% call it Y).

Why is it important?
Whilst neighbourhoods are often at the heart of UK Government policy agenda ("the building blocks of public services society") , they usually have no boundaries to map where they are and there is poor agreement between people as to where any boundaries should be. If we want to ensure that the public have information about their neighbourhoods - these should accurately reflect these important geographic places.
