What is it about?
The goal is to find correspondences between the vocabulary and relations between terms of several ontologies which are originally intended for different purposes. This process is commonly known as ontology alignment or ontology matching. There are serveral techniques and complex systems available in the literature and we have conducted an exhaustive evaluation of the precision and recall over the combination of the five most significant ontologies.

Why is it important?
The outcome of this paper is really useful to better understand hidden relations between geospatial information presented in heterogeneous formats. One of its main applications is the context-aware searches but it can be used to feed information from a specific ontology to other.
Perspectives
Even when results show that an automatic alignment can be feasible for applications where a high recall is required, the hidden relations unveiled with ontology alignment are really useful to provide more insight in apparently unrelated datasets.
