This article investigates the awareness of scholarly authors toward Open Access Repositories (OAR) and the factors that motivate their use of these repositories. The articles explores in great detail levels of awareness and the differences that may exist across disciplines, the motivations and barriers, and the impact of OAR on dissemination and publication behaviours.
