Why is it important?

Work does not happen in a vacuum but is embedded in a greater societal context. Taking into account macropolitical events such as Brexit allows for a more holistic understanding of the factors that influence individual behavior, personal well-being and social interactions at work.

Perspectives

We hope that this article encourages researchers and practitioners to consider (a) the macropolitical background that work is embedded in and (b) the relevance of cognitive appraisal of controversial events for the quality of social work relationships.
