What is it about?

Social media posts directed at NHS staff and students have become very numerous during the COVID-19 outbreak in the UK. This paper asks how we can prepare students entering the NHS for the sudden increase in social media posts directed at them, and how they should be prepared in Universities for when these posts stop.

Why is it important?

The sudden move to online working can have a huge impact on the mental health and wellbeing of digital users. For NHS staff and students who are suddenly experiencing a large amount of digital support via social media, there needs to be support and education to deal with it.

Perspectives

This is a vital piece of work in responding to the changing digital workplace and raising awareness of the entangled issue of mental health and wellbeing that can arise through the onslaught of social media.
