What is it about?
This international study analyzes 48interviews with adult children from theNetherlands, Israel and Romania who have forgiven their parents. This article provides a large number of compelling conversation fragments that can lead to recognition and hope. The findings highlight the commanding importance of reaching a conscious wiled decision to pursue child–parent forgiveness, such decision-making fuelled by insights facilitated by the processes of adult development and reinforced by a proforgiveness environment.

Why is it important?
Human relationships are of vital importance, but serious conflicts can also arise. Since the beginning of this century, much attention has been paid to the importance of forgiveness. This is one of the first studies of adult children's experiences with forgiving their parents. It analyzes the most important elements of such a process.
