What is it about?
We explore the mechanisms through which management maintains control and that minimise labour-management conflict. We find that the master-apprentice relationship with older colleagues is a crucial way in which discontent of young precarious workers is dampened and their loyalty to the institution is secured. Another important factor is the possibility of entering permanent employment sometime in the future.
