What is it about?
In this work, we investigate the bioremediation of chromate conversion coating waste using iron reducing bacteria.

Why is it important?
While it is known that iron reducing bacteria can also reduce Cr(VI) to Cr(III) insoluble compounds, it was unclear whether constituents present in industrial chromate conversion coating chemistries could interfere with microbial activity. Our results show that s oneidensis MR-1 could be used to remediate chromate conversion coating waste efficiently.
