What is it about?
Solid-state fermentation has become the most used fermentation technology used for the production of fungal biopesticides. We summarize research on fungal entomopathogens used to produce biopesticides by solid-state fermentation, mainly focusing on the two most entomopathogens: Beauveria and Trchoderma.

Why is it important?
We provide a comprehensive review on the most relevant research on production of fungal entomopathogens by solid-state fermentation, focusing on Beauveria and Trichoderma but also highlighting other strains like Metarhizium, also providing relevant information on used substrates, relevance of different culture prameters, reactor configuration and product formulation. To our knowledge, no other review has assembled this information in one paper prior to this one.
