Why is it important?

The transitions and the area in-between therapy and the outside world are important for both psychotherapy process and daily functioning but usually not sufficiently addressed in therapy. A better understanding of this phenomenon may allow therapists to be more sensitive to their clients’ experiences on the threshold between therapy and daily life, and to promote the clients’ integration of the therapeutic progress in their life. This knowledge needs to be incorporated in training programs and supervision, and more research is required when remote therapy is an increasingly used alternative to conventional treatment settings.
