What is it about?

About the changes in acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesteraze activity in the brain regions after immobilization stress.

Why is it important?

The role of butyrylcholinesterase in the organism is not still fully explained. We demonstrate here that butyrylcholinesterase changes after immobiliztion stress. Moreover, the response to stress is significantly affected by the absence of corticotropin releasing hormone.

Perspectives

The changes of cholinesterases in different brain regions represent possible mechanism how to cope with stress. The response to stress is complex, they are region- and stress duration-specific, comprise interactions between different brain regions and is laterally specific.
