What is it about?
Using pre-emergence (PRE) herbicide like pyrazosulfuron-ethyl is effective to control weeds of puddled transplanted rainy season rice, but the performance and consequences of this PRE herbicide needs to be assessed under non-puddled field condition especially when wheat is the succeeding crop of rice.

Why is it important?
The efficiency of PRE herbicide might not be same under puddled field and non-puddled field condition. Pyrazosulfuron-ethyl is a commonly used PRE herbicide for rice. Now-a-days, non-puddled transplanting of rice is getting expansion to cut off the cultivation cost of field preparation. That's why, performance of pyrazosulfuron-ethyl needs to be evaluated under non-puddled field condition. Moreover, residual effect of this herbicide also needs to be assessed on the succeeding wheat.
