What is it about?
This article highlights the contribution of nutrition knowledge to dietary practices. Results clearly revealed high levels of nutrition illiteracy coupled with undesirable dietary practices. The article further elaborated on the contextual factors related to the acquisition of nutrition knowledge and the implementation of dietary practices in rural farming communities.

The topic of the article is of importance to the scientific community and the population at a large because prevention of dietary related conditions requires a better understanding of factors that dictate peoples’ dietary choices and their lifestyle behavior. Knowledge and practice are among the factors that underpin dietary choices. Understanding these factors will help to address the gaps and barriers related to optimal dietary practices thus improving the nutrition status of a population.
