What is it about?
Women have differential access to land in Zambia: though their husbands' or a male relative, through the chief or through the market. The paper examines how each of these avenues are gender equitable or not.

Why is it important?
Given that gender equity is a sustainable development goal (SDG) finding mechanisms to improve women's access to productive resources such as land and natural resources is paramount. Also the changing power of traditional authorities such as the chiefs vis-a-vis the state is crucial with respect to local governance.
