Why is it important?

Sexual health is insufficiently addressed in healthcare and rehabilitation causing risk of decreased sexual and general health. Physiotherapy is a holistic profession aiming at optimizing health and therefore sexual health needs to be addressed by physiotherapists in an appropriate way.

Perspectives

This publication came about due to my clinical physiotherapy experience, where patients expressed sexual health concerns. some of the concerns were easy to address, while others demanded ethical reflections and created ethical questions, despite the professional ethical guidelines, especially when also reflecting upon the sexual rights.
