What is it about?
Willingness to communicate (WTC) is the readiness of a person to engage in a conversation in second language (L2) when free to do so. Research has shown that WTC is the immediate predictor of learners' L2 use. The current study was conducted in order to explore the factors and their dynamics which influence English language learners to approach or avoid the opportunities to make use of L2 inside a classroom. Using a multiple case mixed methods research design, the study revealed that learners' L2 WTC behaves as a dynamic system influenced by a non-linear interaction of interdependent contextual, psychological, linguistic and physiological variables.

Why is it important?
The research sensitizes second and foreign language learners to better understand the underlying factors that affect their Oral performance in the L2 class. It helps the teachers to enhance the factors facilitating L2 WTC and control the factors debilitating L2 WTC in order to help their students to master second/foreign language.
