What is it about?

Patients who have organ transplants are immunosuppressed from the medications needed to prevent rejection of the transplnted organ. These medications can increase the risk of infections or malignancies. Due to these risks choosing a treatment for psoriasis can be difficult.

Why is it important?

As there is very little information on treating psoriasis in patients with organ transplants, we give guidelines based on expert opinions from the National Psoriasis Foundation Medical Board.

Perspectives

This was a needed paper to help guide treatment in patients with psoriasis who also have solid organ transplants. The goal is to treat psoriasis while minimizing the risks from the immunosuppressive medications needed to prevent rejection of solid organ transplants.
