What is it about?
An introduction to a whole 'special issue' of articles about information sharing. The articles address the cultural challenges of sharing information between services and partners in the public sector, in order to provide more joined up support, help achieve improved outcomes for service users and transform public services. They provide examples of where information sharing has been achieved and analyses of the circumstances that have helped deliver this, but challenge how we go on to make information sharing the norm rather than the exception.

Why is it important?
Because we need to provide more joined up services if we are to deliver earlier interventions for people, provide them with better support and deliver services more cost effectively.
