What is it about?
Drought stress affects plant growth and development by reduction in nutrient uptake by the plants from dry soil. Calcium (Ca2+) is relatively immobile in plants and its uptake affected under drought conditions by the limited availability of water. However, a continuous supply of Ca2+ required by plants for vigorous leaves and root growth and overall canopy development. Therefore, the foliar fertilization can be an effective approach to improve the nutritive status of plants.

Why is it important?
It is important to understand that how nutritive status of plants would be helpful in improving its abiotic stress resistance capacity.
