Why is it important?
Joint logistics force elements are an essential part of the UK's force structure. Without them, the UK's armed forces cannot be sustained on expeditionary operations. The 2015 Strategic Defence and Security Review made improvements to maritime, land and air capability, but joint logistics capability was completely overlooked. Identifying enhancements to joint logistics is the first step to addressing this oversight.
