What is it about?
Peer support is widely touted as important in the recovery process. However, few papers describe methods for improving peer support. This paper provides specific suggestions for increasing and improving peer interaction in residential lettings. The authors draw on years of practical and research experience to illustrate ways of involving peers in decision making, conflict resolution, managing residents' crises, house management, and other activities.

Why is it important?
Peer support is a broad concept that has not been well defined despite widespread use. Even less common are identification of strategies for enhancing peer support. This paper provides new ways of thinking about common issues in milieu settings from a social model, peer oriented perspective.
