What is it about?
Bee honey is a good marker for monitoring of environmental pollution with heavy metals and reflects the presence and quantity of heavy metals in plants of the bee apiaries areas. In this study nine heavy metals (Co, Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, and Zn) were determined in total 192 samples (96 soil, 48 flower, and 48 honey samples) from polluted areas and unpolluted areas at Aswan district, Egypt. The results revealed that honey in polluted areas showed higher concentrations of Cu, Pb, Fe,and Zn than honey from unpolluted areas. The all concentrations of the studied heavy metals were within the safety baseline levels for human consumption.
