What is it about?
Simple bedside ultrasound probe placed on the temples of patients with dialated and non reacting pupils (peri agonal state) revealed how the flow dynamics changed in the vessels at the base of the brain as patients progressed to die or recover. This unique study sheds light on how blood flow and compliance of the brain changes during the cruicial moments near death.

Why is it important?
It is unique in the sense that we know very little on the cerebral blood flow dynamics in the periagonal period.
