What is it about?
People with aphasia have difficulty using language (talking, understanding, reading and writing) which can have a significant impact on a person's daily life. This paper describes the development and validation of a new assessment that captures the consequence and significance of these difficulties on someones everyday life, in terms of their perception of their communication, participation and well-being.

Most assessments used in this field assess language function (and dysfunction) but not the impact these impairments have on a person's life. This assessment is designed to promote an partnership in planning treatment, and thus ensure that outcomes acheived are meaningful to the person with aphasia.
