What is it about?

Dramatherapy is an effective form of therapy for people struggling with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) - also know as Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD) - and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This is illustrated through a case study of a woman who suffered extreme child abuse and as a result, struggled with suicidal urges, severe self-harm, disturbing flashbacks, depression and paranoia.

Why is it important?

BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) is a complex and distressing condition that can have a huge impact on a person’s life, particularly in relation to relationships, self care and self esteem. Dramatherapy is an approach that can genuinely support people living with this condition.

Perspectives

I spent over a decade working with people diagnosed with BPD. I loved spending time with them and it helped me to grow as both person and therapist. This is what inspired me to write this article and then my first clinical book, focusing on dramatherapy for people with BPD.
