What is it about?
Forest fragments are frequently showed as a single unit where we should find a single animal community. This racionality comes from the small area size usually available in forest fragments. We showed that a single forest fragment could have two interconnected bird communities, in the sense of metacommunities idea. We showed that it is possible deu to topography variation inside a forest fragment. Such forest fragments are keys for conservation in a landscape because they harbour a large number of species than expected considering their area size.

Our paper demostrates the importance to select carefully forest fragments in a landscape to conserve.
Perspectives
We hope to increase interest on investigations that show the biological individuality of forest fragments.
