This paper examines how New Zealand youth feel about bilingual place-naming, and especially why the do or do not support bilingual place-names as public policy.

Why is it important?

The Maori language is undergoing revitalisation and New Zealand is notionally, if not in practice, a bicultural postcolonial society where place-naming is used as policy to reflect New Zealand's bicultural identity.
