What is it about?
Thioxanthenes are very important components, especially for neuroleptic and antidepressant drugs. This work offers a new and easily synthetic route for the synthesis of thioxanthenes.

Why is it important?
In this work, since thioxanthenes are very important biologically active compounds, we have applied our organocatalytic method for the synthesis of novel thioxanthenes. We developed a new intramolecular Friedel-Crafts cyclisation route to synthesize some novel substituted arylthioxanthenes in the presence of N-triflylphosphoramide as organocatalyst with excellent yields for the first time.
Perspectives
I hope this study allows researchers to see that our method is easy, economical and useful in order to synthesize valuable thioxanthenes and their derivatives.
